Excessive Drinking Awareness – The Illeffects

Everybody must be thinking “what is this ‘pakaugiri’ (time pass)?”. But really I always had this question, “Why are these people addicted to drugs?”. As per my knowledge more than 20% people(from India) possess habits like smoking, chewing tobacco and drinking alcohol and some are drug addicted. Even some of my own friends explain that to release the tension/pressure they choose this. I don’t think this is correct way to release the tension.

Last month I attended a function which was attended by lots of people from software companies, marketing field, and college students .In that party I saw the excessive drinking, smoking. That night I had a question “Why this well educated people of the younger generation need this(addiction)?”. So after a few days I discussed this with my colleagues, one of my colleague told me that this(drinking/smoking) releases the tension/pressure and one feels fresh after drinking alcohol. If one software engineer thinks that then I think there is no need to get explanation from footpath people(Because we are software professionals having one standard in society). After getting educated and getting 2lakh and more per annum you need this type of tension/pressure release therapy then I think you didnt receive ‘proper’ education. You wasted your 22(or more) years and from now you will waste your whole life. I do not oppose drinking alcohol. I know drinking(limited) alcohol is good for our health, but I am oppose excessive drinking and smoking.

Misuse of alcohol has been implicated in over 20 per cent of traumatic brain injuries and 60 per cent of all injuries reporting to emergency rooms. Excessive usage of alcohol has also resulted in deliberate self-harm, high-risk sexual behavior, HIV infection, tuberculosis, cancer, liver disease, duodenal ulcer and many more.

You should be mentally prepared for how to release tension. For this you have to think about the whole world, study the people and try to know which situation will create which type of problem(here I mean tension) and how I have to react or what I have to do for releasing this. I know all predictions will not be right but definitely this will decrease the tension/pressure.

Think about those people who are not getting food, children who are not having money for school and here we are wasting money on drinking alcohol, smoking and drugs. On drugs crores of rupees are wasted mostly from high class people(maximum ‘black money’ holders).I am not saying that should go to any NGO or you should give money to the needy people(if you are doing this then thats better), rather if you save money you are indirectly saving money for India. And decreasing the drinking/smoking will decrease the health problems that means saving money again.

Government will not ban on this drinking/smoking because they are getting more revenue from alcohol and tobacco items. Most of the states obtain 15-20 per cent of their revenue from excise on alcohol. This is the second largest source of a states’ exchequer. If they ban the use will not decreased that much but corruption will increase. but we know the ‘bad effects’ of those drugs, smoking. So we have to take initiative for stopping(at least decreasing) this. So from now on start from you and try to make your friends aware.

    You are right pramod.
This drink (in excessive amount) really has spoiled thousands of families.
The case becomes more serious when a head person of a poor family becomes victom of the bottle, when his family members dont get enough food.
