We all are much of aware of all things happened in Mumbai during last 3-4 days.
But keeping (Dirty) politics aside, some sort of reality has been disclosed on which we should think upon.

Whatever some politicians said about north Indians is unacceptable and ofcourse absolutely ridicules.But there are some issues related to heavy migration of people in Maharashtra from certain specific states. There are many reasons behind that.
According to International Institute of Population Studies (IIPS) Mumbai in 2002-2003- Fifty years review, said, “Migration to Mumbai has always been dominated by people from other states and while migrants from Maharashtra have declined. The maximum number of interstate migrants are from UP.â€
According to the 2001 census, the highest percentage of migrants reported place of birth within the state of Maharashtra (37.4 per cent) followed by Uttar Pradesh (24.3 percent) and Gujarat (9.6 per cent). The most noticeable change of migrants to Mumbai over the last fifty years, has been observed from UP, which shows an increase from 12 percent to 24 per cent and Bihar from 0.2 per cent to 3.5 per cent.
Actually this research was about only Mumbai; but it happens almost all big cities in Maharashtra.

Ofcourse people migrate for sake of job. All those states from which migration takes place are not so developed. These states are not having industrial development as per need. Thus due unemployment people leaves there native place. Obviously this causes increase population in Mumbai indirectly in Maharashtra.
And everybody knows effects of population; atleast Mumbaikars(both maharashtrians & non- maharashtrians) are facing it daily.
So Government Central as well as particular state governments should try to decrease migration in whatever ways foe eg more IDC(Indus rial Development Corporations) helps to improve employment.

Neither Mumbai nor any city, state owed by anybody to prevent anybody.
No one can split India just using misconception about state wise criteria. Though everybody is emotional about their native states, but “Unity in Diversity†is ultimate truth of India.
But there should be some solution to reduce this migration which is ultimately harmful for all of us Indians.
And finally “Jai Maharashtra†should come voluntarily not forcefully. Isn’t it?

Well my opinion says there shouldn’t be any restriction on on the northies migrating to mumbai…. Well just take a look and you will see the max revenue or business ppl in mumbai are all northies…. Have the typical so called maharashtrians made upto there.(hardly anyone)…. So why do we fight…. The northies come over here make max use of the facilities and resources from mumbai (including their northy minds) and make their life…. and we maharashtrians instead of competiting with them we keep gossiping and talking and go with the morcha ceremony to stop them making money…. Doesn’t it sound weird? It looks like “khud mat jiyo aur dusronko bhi jeene na do” stuff…..
Come on yaar if we (maharashtries) really want to prove then there are better ways to do it…. Its the attitude problem and not the “rights” problem….
One way to stop the unwanted (i think the non working crowd) ppl is to have something like visa system. Like you get entry in mumbai for a period of one month or 3 months… In that period if the person gets job then he gets visa to settle in mumbai or stay in mumbai….. There may be many such solution to problems like this….. (You can only find solutions if we want to)…….

You rightly said, “Any respect should come in Voluntarily and not Forcefully”..Most North Indians do display some amount of superiority complex(thats what I feel).. but remember.. if people like from MNS dont come forward, forget whatever their ACTUAL motives are(eg: votebanks etc), Maharashtrian Culture would get lost.. They remain good as long as they respect Maharashtrian Values and dont try to intrude their Culture with their own values..

So in any case Maharashtrian people will never get heavily migrated to anywhere.
Yes ,max revenue or business ppl in Mumbai are all northies; I agree with you upto some extent. But in reality how many actual businessman of north India are migrating? Most of migrants are uneducated and ready to do any job; offered to them. But problem is , if anybody came here for job, after some time he calls his relatives to settle here. and many of people follow them. It causes unwanted centralization of population.
Its very lengthy, but I want to mentioned and also appreciate mentality of Maharashtrians which is well described by joke.
ONCE There was a man traveling in bus with a big glass jar without a top lid. The jar was having 4-5 crabs. A man sitting beside this man asked him “Why the jar is lidless? Its very dangerous to keep like this. Craps may come out.” Man replied ” No way! these are Maharashtrians craps, if any crap try to come out of jar, other craps pull down its legs; typical Maharashtrians behavior”

Mumbai is city of DREAMZ… so the guys who are not having to do anything better in their own state they come and earn its natural and who doesnt want to help their own relatives. I agree that there are some problems, when i travel by overcrowded trains,bus i feel so but whatever MNS workders did that was ridiculous , its not the way to treat UPites , and At most they are first INDIANs i know it sounds filmy but true. where is our culture, respect. those UPites were innocent people You just think guys are they responsible for Migration Prob according to me Goverment of there is responsible who is doing nothing there for development and the entire drama was jst to lure vote bank.
