Fun in the workplace

Work does not have to be monotonous or boring, so we’ll dedicate the first month of the year, Jan 2008 of thoughts decoded to Fun in the workplace – doing things differently and finding ways to make the office an interesting, fun place to be. So decode your thoughts for thoughts decoded…

We had an eventful year in 2007. We are almost on the eve of 2008 with our thoughts on ‘Fun in the Workplace’ decoded and with a resolve to scale new heights during the year.
A lot has happened during the year 2007 – we’ve welcomed new people, new technologies and new ideas into our fold, incorporated our company in the US of A, developed new products, became Top 100 IT Innovator company, CiviCRM became the most recommended CRM product amongst NPOs against giants like Salesforce – yet our basic philosophy has remained the same – that our employees are above all.

The year 2007 has been an important part of our growing up process. Much trial and tribulation featured throughout the year, but it is important to recognize that this is a vital aspect of a mature company. We started our physical presence in America by establishing an office there and inducted new hires. By successfully negotiating the times, we have shown that we are strong, our resolve and value to customers is unshakeable, and Team WA can find creative and innovative solutions to any business problem.

Year 2007 shall be particularly remembered for three significant milestones: one – Geographic Spread of WA into Americas, two – receiving recognition as Top 100 IT Innovators in India with WA appearing alongside the giants like HP, Wipro, Infosys, HCL and the likes and three: selection of CiviCRM as top CRM software for NPO sector leaving behind giants like salesforce .

Year 2008 is a particularly good year to welcome; the feeling just doesn’t go away. The “feel good” that already spreads through 2007 finds strong resonance in my heart as well – and I know I can say this for all of us at WA.

The hallmark of a great company is not just its ability to flourish in good times – its strength is marked by the ability to ride out crisis situations without compromising on its values. The major accomplishment is that we have proven what each of us already knew: Together, as Team WA, we provide great value to our customers, and that there are customers out there who want & appreciate our working hard to deliver this value to them. The strong traction generated in the recent months (an all time record!) underlines this. But it is not a time for us to relax or become complacent. As the times get better and as the momentum builds, we need to work harder and smarter to get our company closer to what we dream of it becoming – a global powerhouse business solutions’ provider. We need to renew our promise to achieve this without compromising on the ethical values we hold dear.

The work is cut out for us already – grow the team, improve processes, add technology and business domains, find more and bigger customers. All this would be just dull work unless we increase our passion and ownership for our collective dream. And have fun along the way!

So share your thoughts for making the workplace a fun place to be during 2008.

    Hi Sir..Good to hear that.

I have felt the need of a gym in our organization. Due to the hectic timings in the software world, it is nearly impossible for us to tune our body into good shape. Exercise provides not just good ’shape’, but it also makes our body healthy. Body Healthy = More blood circulation in the brain = More Concentration = More work efficiency :) .

Though my input is not much of a FUN suggestion, it sure is a long term plan and I am sure most employees would benefit from it and ofcourse would like it.

    Hi Michael,

Yes that is a good thought. And we shall some day have one in WA.
