I know many of you will prefer to disagree with my statement. Well this is my opinion and everyone has right to have their own
.
It’s been a while that I am in IT profession, well more than 4 years. I would like to share a few of my thoughts. What drives us to work? I guess the most common answer would be to earn Money. It will get you 3 BHK flat in Mumbai, you’ll own a car, in short all ingredients to lead a good and supposedly-quality life. But life is not entirely all about Money (or as we call it Vitamin M ).

A small number of people join a good company rather than the high paying one. One should be clear in his goal and need to think seriously about his professional career before making a decision. Its very essential to have a clear vision for the future. Grass always looks greener on the other side to everyone.

I have seen a lot of people keep jumping companies just for big bucks. People spend their entire lives dreaming about fortune (and of course chasing the dream of bringing home ‘X’ salary) and fail to enjoy those precious moments of joy in their present. I am not saying one should not think about better future, but should be patient enough to earn it slowly and steadily.
“You will NOT make 40 thousand dollars a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone, until you earn both.” – Bill Gates
Everyone loves success stories. Achieving success is not always about taking a big step but all about taking those important measurable steps at right time in right direction. One should be able to strike a correct balance between being ambitious and greedy. Try to earn bread and butter, if you can to do it consistently someday you’ll definately be able to afford cheese
And then only you will love the taste of cheese.
I would say there are two kinds of people: “One who enjoy and loves his work” and “One who work and pretend to enjoy.” Its upto you to decide what you want to be… after all it’s your life.

Like they say, one’s health is lost earning the money and later money spent to get back the health…

hey,
I know, everybody will say that money is not the most important thing in life. But every one
want to be as rich as Bill Gates ( I am 100% sure abt that).
Learning is more important than earning (but we learn just to earn).
Its differenttttttttttt

well ..
Few days back I read quote saying .. “If you want to feel rich, just count the things you have that money can’t buyâ€..
yeah KJ .. you ( and Bill Gates too :-p .. ) said it right..
If you ask for my opinion .. well I will like to say .. “Money is not the most important thing in the world. Love is. Fortunately, I love money.â€

Bharat: Agree with you. That’s exactly what i want say. Learn first and then think about earning.
So if you have enough knowledge you will obliviously earn

Manish: i would say first love life ( wife
) and then love money.

Hey…. Kurund,
Really nice one, I do agree with your statement that we should be clear in our goals and career before making a decisions,
but after all we do work for money only, and what if someone really needs money to meet his personal needs. So may be because of that people do jump in big companies.

As all know Money is most Important in Life without that no one will able to servive.
Hence someone said that “Money is not most Important in Life But make enough before saying it”.

Vijay: Yes. One should make enough money for rainy days. But in the process of earning don’t
forget to enjoy Life. You live once

Bharat, I have a comment here…. you cannot be sure 100% of anything in life, including for yourself.
Also Bill Gates had a vision and it was not the money. Money is a by-product which happens.
I hope this makes some sense……

@kurund :
I agree with you…People should find what they love. Work fills a major part of our lives, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what one believes is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. Money will surely follow:)

altaf: yes.. live to enjoy not to earn
yashodha: Exactly.. Its very important to love your work.. It simplifies lot of things …

I agree with Kurund Sir,
Money is PART of life, not HEART of life.
But their is darker side,if LIFE wants PARTS other than HEART then its not a grate deal!!!!
But the other parts never took place of HEART,so i agree with Kurund Sir in most cases like
one described above.

Nice thought Kurund! Speaks another mentality, another ideal. Its good that you stand by your ideal.
However, my ideal(which seems to be pretty much different from you) is explained below.
While some choose to settle down and get satisfied by what they get, some choose to move on and cross more mountains. After all, you would be capable of analyzing your past state to your present state IF AND ONLY IF you get to see whats beyond the mountain. You would think this is the happiest place for you, but that might prove wrong when you see whats beyond. And you would get to see it, only if you cross the mountain.
The age-old saying that money is NOTHING in life, has been said by only RICH people, who have already experienced what it means to be amongst ample amount of money(and by some missionaries, but no one tends to keep their advice in mind). It is like saying, “We have reached this position and believe it or not it sucks. Don’t come here”. But if it’s that bad, why don’t they come down and give away all that they have to charity and live an immaterial life?
Bill Gates(who tried to sue the OpenSource world out of frustration because they had implemented something that Microsoft was holding Patent for; but as usual forgot that Windows itself breaches several Patents), doesnt seem to have gone through this Proverb:
“Nothing is Impossibleâ€

@michael:
Right!! I would say nothing is Ideal. It varies from person to person
You are definately right.. without venturing how would one know what’s there on other side of the horizon. But one should not forget ones boundaries. More importantly, its about identifying halts in ones journey.
After all, we all are humans and as you know Humans are never satisfied with what they have…
